This workshop was an advanced teacher training program for exercise professionals and physical therapists that covered exercises for clients with Parkinson's disease, MS, Stroke and other neurological conditions. The course covered the disease process, the most common symptoms and principles and applications of neuromuscular rehabilitation. We covered difficulty areas of balance, muscle spasticity, bladder problems, posture and gait issues. A very worthwhile class where teachers learned from each other as well as participated in exercises that they can use with their clients to help them obtain a better quality of life.

Pilates Method Alliance Annual Conference (PMA) October 27-30, 2016
This year's conference was in Phoenix, Arizona at the Arizona Grand Resort. There were approximatey 800 fellow Pilates instructors from all over the world there. It was great to be among so many instructors passionate about bringing Pilates to the world. Among those greats who attended were Lolita San Miguel, Mary Bowen, Rael Isacowitz, Brett Howard, Brent Anderson, Kathy Corey, and so many more it would be impossible to list. We saw the world premier of the "Tribute to Joseph Pilates: The Movie", learned the latest research into validating Pilates work, participated in fabulous mat classes and overall pushed our passion for Joe's work even higher. The pictures above show the instructor crowd at a learning session and at movie night. The pictures below are two of my inspirators, Lolita and Rael with my dear Pilates friend, Brittany Taylor.

The Memorial Celebration for Joe and Clara Pilates

For many years people did not know where Joe and Clara Pilates were buried. Thanks to the efforts of Katya Smirnova from Kiev, Ukraine and her husband Oleg Borys, we now know where the urns containing their ashes are stored. The location is the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, Westchester County, New York. With this knowledge, Lolita San Miguel and many helpers organized the first Memorial Celebration for Joe and Clara Pilates on Pilates Day, May 7, 2016. Pilates instructors from all over the world came to the Memorial Celebration. I count myself as truly blessed to be among those attendees. Lolita San Miguel and Mary Bowen, our two living Elders, were present and each spoke of the joy in being able to celebrate Joe and Clara Pilates lives.
